Storyboarding and Scripts
Situation: Inspired by my own experience with colleagues not using email functions efficiently and being bombarded by email after email that doesn't add value or information to my job duties.
Task: Write a quick script for an explainer video, (2-3 minutes to be most efficient) using either Camtasia, Vyond or Biteable.
Action: I outlined the basic functions within email that I catalogued as being used the least efficiently. This is Reply, Reply All, Cc and Bcc.Â
Result: This video is the perfect short and succinct explainer to the above functions that some people may not know about! I've gotten great feedback regarding the effectiveness and the overall tone as outline in the script.
Above you can see a template for Rise Courses. I find making templates is incredibly helpful in not only outlining courses and their content but also to allow SMEs to familiarize with the formatting and engagement of courses before their creation.
Above you can see a template for Storyline Courses. While Storyline is definitely a more powerful eLearning tool, It's important for SMEs and other stakeholders to review the on-screen text, type of navigation and interactions, as well how the knowledge checks are formatted to ensure objectives are reached and content is accurate.

Situation: Part of my position with my previous organization was to create Train-the Trainer videos, templates and one-sheets.
Task: As our team began outsourcing more and more to our 'in-business trainers', e.g. individuals that held primary positions outside of training, we realized the need of a basic overview of the functions of PowerPoint and how to align with our company and Training Team style guides.
Action: My coworker and I decided to divide the Fundamentals of PowerPoint into two lessons. The first, showcased in the script to the left, was to walk-through basic functionality, style and formatting.
Result: The end video was a perfect cohesion of showcasing what PowerPoint is capable of and how to align with our style guidelines. Of the approximately 30 in-business trainers, a majority of those responded with satisfaction and appreciation for this basic walkthrough.
